The FACT, the Federated Advanced Cyber-physical Test range project, co-funded under the European Defence Fund (EDF), is advancing the development of secure, integrated testing environments for cyber-physical systems in defence. As the project evolves, ethical oversight remains a central pillar to ensure its alignment with European values and legal frameworks.
On June 4 and 5 , C&V Defence had the pleasure of hosting the third Ethics Advisory Board (EAB) workshop in our premises. This board, composed of three independent experts, plays a critical role in guiding the consortium on ethical and legal matters, ensuring that each phase of the FACT project upholds the ethical standards required under EDF regulations.
This session facilitated constructive dialogue between the experts and key consortium members, including the Project Coordinator, Technical Manager, and the Chair of the Innovation and Technology Committee. Discussions addressed complex issues at the intersection of innovation, security, and cyber resilience, helping refine the project’s ethical approach and reinforce its strategic direction.
Through these regular workshops, the EAB provides actionable insights that help FACT partners navigate sensitive topics such as dual-use risks, data governance, and responsible technology integration. The process reflects a shared commitment to embedding ethics at the core of technological development.
At C&V Defence, we are proud to support FACT with our in-depth expertise in ethics-by-design and compliance under European defence frameworks. Our work ensures that ethical considerations are not only respected, but actively integrated into the system architecture and governance of advanced defence technologies.
